Material and Finish: The Ithaca Style deck cable railing system was chosen for this modern beach house. It was custom-made to be surface mounted on multiple decks and stairs. The posts and top rail are made of aluminum and powder-coated matte black to complement the exterior of the home.
Description: The Ithaca cable railing system is a popular choice for modern homes since it has slim posts and a modern aesthetic. For this project, It transitions along the main deck, second story deck, and up the stairs to the crow's nest. In addition, to the standard Ithaca posts we designed unique triangular railing sections to transition along the roofline and up the stairs.
Perello Design Build combined years of creative design experience and craftsmanship, with geometric shapes and flat planes to create this modern beach house aka “Surf House”. The home has a low profile with very simplistic lines allowing it to sit in harmony with the natural surroundings. On trend with today’s design style, wood slats walls are used on the exterior to obscure the windows while still allowing for the light to flow into the rooms. The objective of the client was to take advantage of the outdoors by creating several spaces to enjoy indoor-outdoor living. They created spaces for relaxing, entertaining, and outdoor dining. The cable railing system wraps the decks, stairs, and an uppermost viewing area along the roofline of the house nicknamed the crow’s nest. The great room has expansive glass doors opening up onto the decks, expanding the living space. Cable railings have a way of disappearing from the eye allowing for the best views of the outdoors as seen from the large great room.

Our team at Keuka Studios custom designed and fabricated the cable railing system for the exterior of this home. This railing is the “Ithaca Style” with an aluminum top rail, made to be surface mounted to the decks and stairs. This railing system has slim posts that optimize the views while complementing the clean lines of the home.
