Our clients in Edgartown, Massachusetts wanted to create the perfect atmosphere for relaxation at their modern Martha’s Vineyard vacation home. The homeowners envisioned a home that seamlessly combines indoor and outdoor living spaces. To achieve this, they opted for a rooftop cable railing system, cable railing exterior balconies, and an interior staircase cable railing. The exterior railing features “Gamblers Gun Grey” powder-coated aluminum posts and a matching top rail. The soft grey powder coat gives the railing system an understated, muted appearance that matches the stone and wood architecture woven throughout the home. For the interior staircase railing, the homeowners decided on black powder-coated aluminum posts and a white oak wood top rail for a softer touch.
In order to optimize the stunning natural views of the ocean, our clients requested our Ithaca Style cable railing. Our signature railing design features simple, slim posts and a flat top rail. For the posts, we used solid machined 6061 T6 aluminum (also known as aircraft aluminum). Because of the strength of the material, we were able to design very slender intermediate posts for the exterior railing system. This minimal design and the use of 1/8″ stainless steel cable infills open up the view from the decks and balconies. Because parts of the home feature floor-to-ceiling windows, you can also see the ocean through the railing from within the house.
Designed and built by evoDOMUS, the vacation home includes many luxurious features and amenities. The 4,500-square-foot house has four bedrooms, five baths, an art studio, a two-car garage, loggias for enhanced views, a green roof, and an outdoor kitchen on the rooftop deck.
