Material and Finish: Our Keuka Style curved cable railings made of steel with stainless steel cables and fittings. The posts are powder-coated "Raven Texture Black" with wood top rails.
Description: Double stringer open wood staircase with Keuka Studios curved cable railing system made of steel. The stairs have thick wood treads and wood top rails. The cable railing is surface-mounted to the treads and floors. The cable railing system has custom-made steel plates mounted to the back of the steps to wrap the stairwell without using additional posts.
Centrally located at the entrance of this craftsman-style home is an open double stringer wood staircase crafted by millwork company Kellner Stair and Rail. Since the objective of this project was to create large open spaces and an easy flow between the rooms and the levels of the home the client chose our curved Keuka Style cable railing system. The cable railing system wraps the stairs to the basement and up to the second floor. In addition, cable railings are used on the balconies overlooking the great room and entry. Designing and building an open staircase and cable railing instead of a traditional closed-in stairwell creates a living space that is spacious and allows for natural light to flow throughout the home. The large timber stringers and thick treads complement the extensive woodwork and exposed beam structure of this modern craftsman-style home.
Keuka Style Cable Railings
Our Keuka Style cable railing system was custom-made for the stairwell and upper-level balconies to be surface mounted to the treads and floors. In addition, a custom infill was designed for the stairwell connecting the cables to steel plates underneath the steps. This approach streamlines wrapping the stairwell with cables and uses fewer posts.
